Four colours, chipped and sealed, filled to the original specification. These machines mostly print documents, and the black is where it shows — sharp text that does not grey off across a long run.

Each colour sold on its own. On a document printer black empties first by some margin, so buying two blacks to one of each colour is a pattern that suits most people. In stock in the UK now.

Capacity only. Both fit the same eleven machines. The XL holds substantially more ink, so on a printer doing regular document work it costs less per page and saves you swapping cartridges as often.

No. Epson gives each cartridge family a picture so people can identify it on a shelf, and 16 is the Pen and Crossword range. It tells you nothing about the ink or the fit. The number is what matters when ordering.

Yes. Every colour is a separate cartridge, so black can be ordered on its own. On these machines it is usually the one that goes first, so a spare is rarely wasted.

Usually the chip contact. Take the cartridge out, wipe the copper strip with a dry lint-free cloth, and press it back in until it clicks. If the WF-2510WF still refuses it, power the printer down at the mains for a minute so it re-reads the slots on restart.
