29XL — the Strawberry range — covers seventeen Expression Home printers from the mid-2010s. Plenty of these machines are still in daily use, and at this age the ink costs more than the printer is worth if you buy it from Epson.

29XL fits seventeen Expression Home printers: the XP-235, XP-245, XP-247, XP-255, XP-257, XP-332, XP-335, XP-342, XP-345, XP-352, XP-355, XP-432, XP-435, XP-442, XP-445, XP-452 and XP-455.

Same cartridge, more ink. Both fit the same seventeen printers. The XL is worth having unless you print very rarely, since it costs less per page and you are not changing cartridges every few weeks. Mixing a standard and an XL across slots is fine.

Epson prints a picture on each cartridge family's packaging so shoppers can recognise it on a shelf, and 29 got the strawberry. It has no bearing on the ink itself or on which printers it fits. Order by the number.

No. Each colour is a separate cartridge, so you replace the one that has emptied and leave the rest. A multipack works out cheaper per cartridge if you need more than one, which on a family printer you often do.

Almost always the chip. Remove the cartridge, wipe the small copper contact with a dry lint-free cloth, and refit it firmly until it clicks. If the XP-245 still will not take it, turn the printer off at the wall for a minute before trying again.
