Common Issues When Refilling
When you are refilling an ink cartridge using our ink refill kits, you do so in the fact that the ink cartridge you are refilling is working correctly before and after it has been removed from the printer. Please note the below:
Ink cartridges are “Intended for single use” meaning the manufacturer will make the print heads and chips perform to their “intended” single working life cycle. However! Ink cartridges can be used more than once by refilling, please keep in mind that the following problems can occur which has no link to using an ink refill kit.
1 – Poor Printing
If you are seeing faint lines or colours missing when printing, this is usually caused by blocked print heads.
If the cartridge is left empty for a period of time, or your printer is not used on a regular basis the ink will dry up and clog the tiny holes on the print head. Please see below on how to clean the print head.
2 – Cartridge Not Being Detected
Ink Cartridges have a thin copper contact film, which over time will wear or oxidise especially if the cartridge has been inserted and reinserted a few times. If there is insufficient contact the printer will show the words CARTRIDGE NOT DETECTED or similar. Sometimes this could also be down to dirt or ink on the contacts which can be cleaned using a non static cloth.
If the chip on the cartridge has been subject to excessive static or simply failed then you will also have the above message shown. In this case you would need to replace the ink cartridge for a new one.
CONCLUSION – IMPORTANT PLEASE READ
The most likely issues you will have are blockages, over the years of selling thousands of refill kits, there is a great success rate and not so many chip failures. With the chips being electronic, it is of course as with any electronic device that these can fail which is out of our control. So please do keep this mind when purchasing.
Successful refilling is down to the condition of “YOUR” ink cartridge. We are providing you with ink to refill only, NOT the cartridge, NOT the chip on the cartridge and NOT the print head.
Your Ink Cartridge / Chip / Print Heads are the only things relating to non user refilling problems should they arise. Please see common cartridge issues below.
CARTRIDGE ISSUES
- Poor print quality – Poor print missing or non existent print on the paper is down to blocked print heads or air lock inside cartridge.
- Ink level not showing after refilling – Ink cartridge chips are programmed for single use, you can however disable the ink levels to carry on printing.
- Cartridge not recognised – Bad contacts or connection between chip on the cartridge and printer or the chip has developed a fault
USER ERROR
- Ink pouring out from the cartridge after refilling – Cartridge has been overfilled, leave to let the ink drain for 8 hrs after refill, then wipe print head.
- Printing green / dirty colour after refilling – Incorrect ink has been filled into the incorrect filling hole. – Cartridge is now beyond use
REFILL KITS ARE SIMPLY BOTTLES OF INK, THERE IS LITTLE TO GO WRONG OTHER THAN BROKEN BOTTLES / NEEDLES OR LEAKING BOTTLES FOR EXAMPLE.
